I think the whole nerd/geek societal “acceptance” is WAY overblown.

I would never compare being a so called “closeted” geek/nerd to closeted gay person.
There are no laws preventing nerds/geeks from marrying. Nerds and geeks are rarely shunned from their families and friends when they expose their love for Star Wars. Geeks/nerds have never faced political, religious or societal persecution.

You complain about not being accepted by society and then turn around and get pissed off at people not “earning their nerd card”. That’s arrogance at it’s worst.

Maybe I didn’t give a fuck what people said growing up (a comicbook-board game-videogame-wrestling-Prince-Dr. Who loving black kid in small town Alberta in the 80’s).

Love and celebrate your uniqueness and try not to judge others even if they don’t know the difference between Swamp Thing and Man-Thing.
