Oh, a comment directed at me!

I do tend to generalize fairly often when it comes to the podcast. I just assume that people understand when I say 'all' it means 'in my experience' since clearly, I haven't played with all of the eleventy billion people who have characters in WoW.

From my personal experience, all PVP'ers are assholes. I'm definitely happy to learn that there are exceptions to the rule though!

"Slammed" is a bit harsh. The conversation was about the differences in game style. In no way do I think one way is better than the other or if one way is right or wrong. I merely pointed out the the things that are causing me not to have fun. Clearly there are millions of players who play the same way without issues. I can only assume that this puts me in the minority. We didn't say that power gamers don't like story, just that if you ran through an instance with someone new, you would do just that: RUN through it. I'm the rookie here, I get it. I'm the one that slows down games and asks stupid questions. This podcast was not an attack, just an opinion of difference of play styles.

To add to the comment that Mr JustinC made in regards to the power gamer comment, and also a part of the swtor guild that was publicly slammed, I did play the game 6 days prior to the game launch. Though I've been dubbed as a power gamer, I actually played my character's storyline and am planning to play the other classes' storylines. If there were more character slots, I would play as a sith inquisitor again and pick the assassin advance class. That's how much I liked the class' story. As for the Light/Dark side points, what's wrong with some people playing out of the norm? It's their money they're using and also their choice on how they want to play.
Other than those points, I like your podcasts when it comes to video games and I look forward to listening to them. Keep up the good work guys.

In regards to being a power gamer, (and being part of the swtor guild), those of us that are high level isnt because were speeding through the game, its just because weve put more hours into it, have more time available, and/or more experienced. Im lvl 45 currently, and ive completed almost every quest available yet, even when they were lvls lower then me; so I do pay attention to the story and development of my character.
In regards to the Light and Darkside points, not all ppl pick to be different, we pick Darkside or Lightside choices to lvl our Affection with our companions, because some companions dont like evil decisions or vice-versa.
Now for Kim, in regards to PvP; I play MMORPGs mainly for PvP, my main goal in all MMOs ive chosen to play is to be good at PvP. Ive PvPed in Guild Wars, WoW, Diablo 2, and Rift (which is the other big game not mentioned), and will be PvPing in Guild Wars 2, and Diablo 3. Not all of us PvPers are assholes.

I know exactly what you mean. I haven't seen a single one either, and the only one I really want to see is Hugo. I'm sure I could make it through The Artist and Moneyball as well, but I just look at the rest with a shrug and a big ol' "meh".

Except War Horse. I made it 20 minutes and had to stop 'cause I was laughing so hard.

I couldn't help but notice of all the nominees for Best Picture I have seen a grand total of zero. Not because I don't watch a lot of movies -I do- because not one of them looked interesting. I started ignoring the Oscars a long time ago, and this year really cinches it.

I'm glad you liked Assassin's Creed 2, which is one of my favorite games of this console generation despite the drawbacks you have mentioned, such as the jerky jumping controls. To be honest, the story of Ezio is expanded further in Brotherhood and the story of the first game comes full circle in Revelations, so you don't really -need- to go back and play the first one. Unless you're a completest, in which case have at em'. Anyway, great review as always. Keep it up :)

Dunno why, and I'm not complaining, but ComicCon killed my desire for collecting action figs and comic books.

It eventually trickled down to movies, CDs & novels.

The only thing I now keep are boardgames but even with them if I'm not digging it I'll sell or give them away.

You nailed it Kim, what does all this shit mean at the end of the day?

Oh yeah I gotta a 24" movie Hellboy fig that I wanna unload, anyone?

You really have a gift for writing good articles, my friend. Speaking as a diehard Sherlock Holmes fan, someone who has read most of the books and seen most of the movies, this new incarnation really intrigues me. I have seen attempts to bring classic literature into a modern setting and the results have been mixed, but given that this is a BBC series and it has the kind of dry wit in the writing that I love, it's a pretty safe bet that I'll love this. Good thing too, since this show would have totally escaped my notice if it wasn't for you and Kevin discussing it over Twitter. I might even go out and pick up the DVD set if it's at a good price - I typically like re-watching these kinds of shows :)

I completely agree! This series made me love Holmes so much that I've now read most of the books and created a Sherlock dollhouse =P

Oh I hear that completely. I'm a little worried after seeing her picture on what looks ominously like a memorial wall in Batwoman #1. As much as I like Maggie Sawyer (once again a detective), I will be crushed if she ends up filling Renee's role.

I liked your deconstruction of Sherlock. Baffling and offensive, lol. I could easily see this review leading to someone checking out the show, so I'd say this was a success!

Renee Monotoya is the reason I am a comicbook fan. I bought the novelization of the crossover event "52" mainly because i was shocked that novelizations of comic books even existed. I fell in love with Renee (i'm straight, but she's just that awesome a character) as soon she appeared. I found myself jumping ahead in the novel to read all of Renee's chapters. soon after I found Gotham Central. i'm not a fan of cop drama tv shows but I was hooked from the 1st panel and before i knew it Renee had become on of my personal heroines. I love how she struggles and really grows as a person. Rucka made her great(your so lucky you got to meet him!) and she's the character I tell non comic book fans about to get them interested in the medium.
I really hope she makes a comeback in the New DCU because it would be a crime to lose her.

Birdo, Pokey, and Shy Guy all come from Super Mario 2 and are now mainstays. The ability to pick up items is now a permanent fixture in all Mario games. Even in Smash Bros, Peach's floating is lifted from this game. I understand that the game wasn't developed from the ground up, but I would disagree that it holds no weight in Mario cannon.

Brendan mentions the jump in quality from Super Mario Bros to Super Mario Bros 2. I disagree with this statement since the Western Super Mario 2 is not originally a Mario game. It's just a redone Yume K?j?: Doki Doki Panic. Nothing in this game, besides Mario, Luigi, Toadstool, and Peach, appear in the Mario world after it. Even in the end it's a dream! So, the jump in game quality is really between Mario 1 (1985) and Mario 3 (1990).

Thank you for posting this. This has definitely provided me with a good sense of what to expect when I finally get into Minecraft, which will hopefully be soon and I can spend hours upon hours getting immersed in it, though I think I'll start playing on "peaceful" until I properly learn some of the basics. I look forward to delving into it...with you perhaps giving me some helpful pointers along the way :)
