Fanboys Poster

Fanboys Poster

Yesterday was the DVD release of the much anticipated Fanboys – at least much anticipated by this fangirl – so it’s only natural for me to tell you all about it.

I heard about this movie almost two years ago and unfortunately due to circumstances with production had to wait a very long time to finally see it. I’m just glad I managed to see this film during its brief run in theatres last month, especially since I only happened to know about its release by pure luck. The greatest pitfall was the lack of advertisement – even the movie posters never specified a release date. Sad really.

After more than a year of waiting patiently it’s all paid off in the end – this movie is the shit!

The audience follows the adventure of a group of 4 hardcore fanboys (Eric, Lucas, Hutch & Windows), and 1 fangirl (Zoe), as they trek across country in attempt to break into Lucas Ranch to (more…)

One of the things I loved about growing up in the 80’s was the focus on child-like playfulness and adventure. This playfulness even radiated off more teen and adult oriented movies in titles like Caddy Shack and Jumpin’ Jack Flash. My movie choices are based around this playfulness along with their special geekiness since that’s what this blog is all about.

Unfortunately after her car breaks down she and the kids – including the annoying neighbor played by a young Anthony Rapp – are thrown into a bizarre escapade of trying to get Chris’ friend, getting home before the parents and running away from a group of gangsters. Phew, that’s a lot of pressure on a 17 year old. (more…)

Tropic Thunder

Tropic Thunder

After work today I decided to blow off my usual Monday afternoon responsibilities and head to the mall. After grabbing some cookies from Mrs. Fields I was walking back toward the Skytrain when the urge to watch a movie washed over me. Up I went to the theatre and it just happened that Tropic Thunder started in ten minutes.

Ticket in hand I moseyed into the theatre and sat in my favourite spot and proceeded to watch 10 minutes of cheesy commercials followed by 10 more minutes of not so cheesy, but still pretty bad commercials and then another 10 minutes of previews. (I actually love watching previews, sometimes I think its the best part of the whole movie.) Finally the movie begins, only to start with a hilarious parody of a commercial (Booty Sweat (more…)
