Yesterday was the DVD release of the much anticipated Fanboys – at least much anticipated by this fangirl – so it’s only natural for me to tell you all about it.
I heard about this movie almost two years ago and unfortunately due to circumstances with production had to wait a very long time to finally see it. I’m just glad I managed to see this film during its brief run in theatres last month, especially since I only happened to know about its release by pure luck. The greatest pitfall was the lack of advertisement – even the movie posters never specified a release date. Sad really.
After more than a year of waiting patiently it’s all paid off in the end – this movie is the shit!
The audience follows the adventure of a group of 4 hardcore fanboys (Eric, Lucas, Hutch & Windows), and 1 fangirl (Zoe), as they trek across country in attempt to break into Lucas Ranch to view the rough cut of the Star Wars Episode 1. (Remember, this is set in 1997 when getting the rough cut of a movie wasn’t as easy as hitting the download button on your favourite torrent program.) Like the classic road trip movie the gang gathers in their van and head for shenanigans, however this van has classic Star Wars art painted on the side, an R2 unit molded to the top and a “forbidden” red button that activates the hyperdrive.

It’s a Star Wars fans wet dream.
There is even a part where the boys have to test their Star Wars trivia prowess and I found myself trying not to scream out the answers.

And if all of this isn’t enough to make you drive out and get this movie I will direct you to the picture on the right. I’m a straight girl and even I have to say the Kristen Bell (Zoe) is hot. I bet Veronica Mars wouldn’t have been cancelled if she had worn this outfit just once on the show.

PS. This was the hardest review I’ve ever had to write because I wasn’t sure how to put awesome into words.
I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!
It’s absolutely impossible however to not follow its viewing by the whole SW saga though.
Awesome movie, despite the danger of taking up 14 hours straight of life. haha
Calling “Chewie” instead of “shotgun” is totally where its at too..lol
